Project Description
CARIA
Caria (Greek: Καρία, Karia), ancient district of southwestern Anatolia. The Ionian and Dorian Greeks colonized the west of it and joined the Carian population in forming Greek-dominated states there. The Carians did speak an Anatolian language, known as Carian. Its territory included Greek cities along its Aegean shore and a mountainous interior bounded by Lydia in the north and by Phrygia and Lycia in the east.
